Backgammon
is a game played by moving counters on a board or table, the
object of which is being a race to a goal or the end. The movement of these counters is controlled by the throw
of two dice. Backgammon balances elements of chance
as well as skill, so that each is usually essential to ensure
victory. Backgammon became widely popular across the
world during the late 20th century.
The forerunners
of backgammon are some of the most ancient of all games known
to man, and possibly date back to as early at 3000 B.C. Ancient Romans played a game known as Ludus Duodecim Scriptorum
(Twelve lined Game) which was the same or very similar to
backgammon as we know it today. The game is still most
generally played in the eastern Mediterranean countries.
Backgammon is also becoming very popular online and at online
casinos and online gambling rooms. Backgammon Play |
